BAKERSFIELD, CA (October 12, 2020) — A pedestrian died Friday morning after being struck by a vehicle on South Union Avenue at Rexland Drive.
According to reports, California Highway Patrol responded to the incident around 10:18 a.m.
From what they have garnered from the investigation, authorities believe the victim stepped out in front of an oncoming car after standing in the center median, resulting in the crash.
The driver stayed at the scene for police questioning, which ruled out impairment as a possible factor.
As a result of the crash, the pedestrian died from major injuries and trauma to the head at Kern Medical Center.
