Man Struck and Killed by Train on South 212th Street [Kent, WA]
Fatal Train and Pedestrian Collision on South 212th Street near 77th Avenue South Kent
KENT, WA (October 8, 2020) – Police confirmed that a train struck and killed a man on South 212th Street on Thursday afternoon.
According to the Washington State Patrol, the collision happened near 77th Avenue South around 4:20 PM.
Based on a report from the conductor of the train, a man laid down on the tracks and did not move to the train’s emergency whistles and horns. Police said the conductor also activated the emergency brakes but could not stop the train in time.
Emergency crews said the man died at the scene. Officials did not yet release the victim’s identity pending kin notification.
Kent police temporarily closed the tracks for the investigation. At this point, no other information is available.
