Man Dies in Motorcycle Accident on Highway 101 [Petaluma, CA]
Motorcycle Crashes with Car in Fatal Head-On Accident on Highway 101 in Petaluma
PETALUMA, CA (October 2, 2020) – Police confirmed that a man died in a motorcycle accident on southbound Highway 101 on early Friday morning.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened just north of the East Washington overpass around 1:21 AM.
Based on a report, a Harley Davidson motorcycle traveled northbound in the southbound lanes of the highway. Subsequently, it struck a southbound Honda Fit head-on. Consequently, the car caught fire in the incident.
As a result, the 34-year-old male driver of the motorcycle died of his injuries. In addition, the 24-year-old female driver of the Honda sustained major injuries. A civilian passerby took her out from her vehicle before crews took her to an area hospital.
An investigation into the case is ongoing. Police are now linking the crash to a fatality inside a Petaluma home. This time, they’re asking anyone with information concerning either death to contact Petaluma Police Department Detective John Silva at 707-778-4532.
