Man Killed in 5 Freeway Accident at Via de San Ysidro Off-Ramp [San Diego, CA]
Fatal Accident Involving Pedestrian in San Diego
SAN DIEGO, CA (October 6, 2020) — One person died Sunday evening following a two-vehicle accident on the 5 Freeway off-ramp at Via de San Ysidro.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal incident happened just before 7:45 p.m.
Near the 805 freeway, a driver of a Honda CRV reported that he had crashed into a red sedan that did not have its lights turned on.
CHP Officer Sal Castro further clarified that a pedestrian on the freeway, described as a 28-year-old Santa Ana man, died in the accident.
However, it’s unclear whether the fatal victim had been an occupant of the red car.
The details of this accident demand more investigation and anyone with information should contact the CHP.
