Train Involved in Fatal Pedestrian Accident on Main Street [Manteca, CA]
Woman Killed in Train Accident on Main Street near Yosemite Avenue in Manteca
MANTECA, CA (October 1, 2020) – Authorities confirmed that a train struck and killed one person in a fatal pedestrian accident on Main Street on Thursday afternoon.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened near Yosemite Avenue.
Based on a report, the woman walked onto the railroad tracks and turned her back to the oncoming locomotive before raising her arms in the air. Immediately, she disappeared beneath the train.
Afterward, emergency crews discovered her under the train approximately 200-feet from where the tracks crossed South Main Street. Officials described the victim as a white or Hispanic female between the ages of 25 and 35.
The train blocked off the Main Street and Yosemite Avenue crossings.
Police and Sheriff Deputies remained at the scene for an investigation. However, no information was immediately available.
