Brandon Mackinnon Arrested after Hit-and-Run on North Main Street [Cottonwood, AZ]
Bicyclist Injured in Hit-and-Run on North Main Street near North Willard Street in Cottonwood
COTTONWOOD, AZ (September 28, 2020) – Authorities arrested Brandon Mackinnon after a hit-and-run in the 700 block of North Main Street on Monday morning.
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the accident happened near North Willard Street at about 8:30 AM.
Based on a report, the suspect’s dark-colored pickup truck hit a bicyclist while both were headed southbound on North Main Street. Without rendering aid to the victim, he left the scene after the incident.
As a result, medics said the 65-year-old bicyclist suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Crews transported him to Verde Valley Medical Center for treatment.
Cottonwood Police later found the truck in a nearby alley without the driver. Days after, they received a tip on the driver’s location. They then arrested 24-year-old Mackinnon from Cottonwood on charges related to the incident.
Authorities strictly remind motorists to not leave the scene after an accident. However, wait for the authorities to arrive. Always stay sober, manage your speed, and avoid reckless driving to avoid getting into an accident.
