Woman, 2 Children Seriously Injured in Phoenix DUI Crash
PHOENIX, AZ (September 27, 2020) – Police arrested Alfredo Enriquez after a DUI crash on 41st Drive on late Saturday afternoon.
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the collision happened near Camelback Road just before 7:30 PM.
Based on a report, the 58-year-old man attempted to buy alcohol at a store before he got into his 2006 Chevrolet Avalanche and headed eastbound on Camelback. When he attempted to turn onto 41st Drive, he collided with a 2020 Honda HRV.
As a result, emergency crews said the 41-year-old woman driving the Honda suffered serious injuries. Two children, ages 6 and 5, also suffered major injuries and are now in critical condition.
One of the employees of the store where Enriquez tried to buy alcohol from tried to get him to stay at the scene, but he ran away. Consequently, officers went to the registered address of the Avalanche and found Enriquez. They determined him to be impaired by a drug recognition expert. Finally, they arrested and booked him into jail.
