Woman Run Over, Killed by Heavy Machinery at Oceanside Harbor Beach on North Pacific Street [Oceanside, CA]
Woman Dies After Being Run Over by Tractor in Oceanside Beach
OCEANSIDE, CA (September 29, 2020) — A woman died Monday after being run over by heavy machinery at Oceanside Harbor Beach on North Pacific Street.
According to reports, detectives have yet to confirm the liabilities and precise events that unfolded around 10:00 a.m. at 1202 N. Pacific Street.
Per Oceanside Police Department Lt. Tom Bussey, a woman, believed to be in her 40s or 50s, slept on the beach when a Caterpillar Tractor ran over her.
According to a local surfer, the woman appeared to be fragile and tired. In addition, several people asked her if she is okay, to which she replied that she was.
Under unclear circumstances, a crew member in a tractor, wrapping up a routine dredging project at Oceanside Harbor, ran over the woman, killing her at the scene.
Reports noted that the crew began the process of moving dredge pipes to an equipment area so the pipes could be later hauled away, a procedure that takes place every couple of years there.
Further details noted that the driver of the tractor drove north and backing up into a safety zone. However, the driver did not see the woman and appeared to be shaken up following the fatal event.
The woman did not carry any identification on her. However, investigators believe that she may be a transient.
According to a preliminary investigation, the woman was fully clothed.
We would like to express our deepest condolences to you all.
