Gordon Gaines Dies in Pedestrian Accident on F Street [Oakdale, CA]

Pedestrian Struck and Killed by Vehicle in Oakdale Family Church of the Nazarene

 
VISTA, CA (September 27, 2020) – Police identified Gordon Gaines as the victim who died in a pedestrian accident in the 1700 block of West F Street on Sunday morning.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened at the Oakdale Family Church of the Nazarene at about 10:15 AM.
 
Based on a report, the victim was a congregant of the church. The accounts showed that the driver of a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck was making a U-turn in the parking lot of the church when she accelerated and struck a metal support pole. Subsequently, she then hit Gaines who was standing on a walkway. Finally, she then crashed into the west side of a church building.
 
Gaines, 69, died at the scene. The driver, Oakdale resident Linda Smith, 71, was not hurt in the incident.
 
At this time, the investigation is in its preliminary stage. However, officers don’t have additional information.
