Multiple Motorcycles Crash on 5 Freeway [Santa Clarita, CA]
Two Hospitalized after Santa Clarita Motorcycle Crash on 5 Freeway
SANTA CLARITA, CA (September 26, 2020) – Emergency crews recorded injuries in a two-vehicle crash on Highway 101 southbound on Saturday night.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened at Calgrove Boulevard just after 9:00 AM.
Based on a report, about six to eight motorcycles collided in the lanes. Responders from the Los Angeles County Fire Department found the riders down in the roadway. Officers said the victims looked like they were riding as a pack and going to a destination.
As a result, crews transported two patients to the hospital for treatment. In addition, another three suffered moderate injuries.
The incident blocked the Nos. 1 and 2 lanes of the freeway, prompting a SigAlert in the area as traffic backed up to the Newhall Pass.
The crash remained under investigation by the CHP. At this point, officials don’t have additional information to share.
As a rider, always stay in your lane to prevent a motorcycle crash. In addition, as a driver, pay attention to the movement of small vehicles like motorcycles and bicycles. However, always avoid distractions while driving. Above all, keep your eyes on the road at all times.
