One Fatally Struck by Driver in Pixley Pedestrian Accident on Highway 99
PIXLEY, CA (September 25, 2020) — A man died Thursday morning after being struck and killed by a driver in a pedestrian accident on Highway 99 near Avenue 96.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a driver in a 2011 Mitsubishi Outlander tried swerving to avoid the man as he crossed the road; however, the SUV ended up striking the pedestrian around 4:50 a.m.
Crews responded to the scene and officers began investigating to determine why the pedestrian was crossing the street at the time.
Meanwhile, the driver stayed and cooperated with police investigations, which ruled out impairment as a major factor in the case.
Following the pedestrian accident on Highway 99, officials closed the northbound lanes for nearly two hours as they investigated.
