Hit-and-Run Driver Sought after Pedestrian Crash on Highway 247 near Midway Avenue in Lucerne Valley
LUCERNE VALLEY, CA (September 17, 2020) – Police are now trying to find the suspect who struck and killed a woman in a hit-and-run pedestrian crash on Highway 247 on early Thursday morning.
According to California Highway Patrol, the collision happened just east of Midway Avenue around 12:08 AM.
Based on a report, officers from the Victorville Station and firefighters from San Bernardino County Fire found the 55-year-old woman lying on the roadway. An unknown type of vehicle traveling westbound struck her. Consequently, the impact threw the victim onto the westbound lane of the roadway. CHP officials said the vehicle immediately fled the scene following the collision.
As a result, the victim suffered fatal injuries. Officials did not yet release the victim’s identity.
The collision is still under investigation. Police are asking anyone with information to call the Victorville CHP station at 760-241-1186.
Police don’t have a description of the suspect vehicle. However, they continue to investigate the case.
