Woman Dies in Two-Vehicle Crash on Highway 85 [Sunnyvale, CA]
Two Vehicles Involved in Fatal Crash on Highway 85 near 280 Freeway in Sunnyvale
SUNNYVALE, CA (September 16, 2020) – Police confirmed that a woman died in a two-vehicle crash on Highway 85 on Wednesday morning.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened near 280 Freeway at approximately 8:50 AM.
Based on a report, the victim was driving a 2003 Lexus on the ramp to the freeway when she apparently lost control of the vehicle. Subsequently, the car off the left edge of the roadway and drove over the dirt gore point, where it hit a 2015 Lexus. Finally, both cars hit the guardrail.
As a result, emergency crews pronounced the woman dead at the scene. Officials did not yet release her identity pending kin notification. The other driver, a 37-year-old East Palo Alto man, suffered minor injuries. There were no passengers in either car.
At this point, police don’t have the details that lead to the crash. However, an investigation into the case is ongoing.
