Erika Chavez Killed in Car Accident on Unser Boulevard [Albuquerque, NM]
Mother Killed, Daughter Injured in Two-Vehicle Crash on Unser Boulevard in Albuquerque
ALBUQUERQUE, NM (September 12, 2020) – Police identified 33-year-old Erika Chavez as the victim who died in a car accident on Unser Boulevard on Saturday around noon.
According to Albuquerque Police, the accident happened at the intersection of Unser Boulevard and Tower Road.
Based on a report, the victim was on her way to pick up breakfast for her family prior to the accident. As she was making a left turn from Tower Road onto Unser, a speeding Ford Mustang ran a red light. Subsequently, it slammed into her car. As per witnesses, the Ford Mustang was going at about 120 miles per hour at the time of the crash.
Medics confirmed that Chavez, a resident of Albuquerque, died at the scene. Her 3-year-old daughter who was in the backseat of the car sustained bruises in the incident.
Chavez’s family has set up a GoFundMe page for her three kids ages 15, 8, and 3 years old.
