Man Dies in Bicycle Crash on Rosecrans Avenue Near South Aprilia Avenue [Compton, CA]
One Fatally Struck by Driver in Compton Bicycle Crash on Rosecrans Avenue
COMPTON, CA (September 18, 2020) — A 40-year-old man died in a bicycle crash on Rosecrans Avenue near South Aprilia Avenue Wednesday night.
According to California Highway Patrol Officer P. Trinidad, the fatal incident happened around 11:15 p.m.
When officers responded to the scene, they found a bicycle and an unresponsive man on the road.
Per evidence at the scene, officers believe the 40-year-old was riding his bike in a poorly lit area along Rosecrans Avenue. At some point, a 2008 Honda Element driver switched lanes and struck the rear of the bicycle.
As a result, the man sustained fatal injuries, as Compton fire department personnel confirmed his death.
According to reports, no arrests were made following the crash; however, if anyone has more knowledge regarding this incident, please contact traffic investigators.
