Alande Gachette Arrested Following Fatal Police Chase Crash at South Holly Street [Seattle, WA]
Alande Gachette Detained in Deadly DUI Accident at South Holly Street and Martin Luther King Jr Way South
SEATTLE, WA (September 15, 2020) — Two people died following Friday’s DUI police pursuit accident at South Holly Street and Martin Luther King Jr Way South.
According to reports, the incident began in the 4300 block of South Othello Street. There, officers spotted a Nissan Pathfinder bear pass them around 3:00 a.m., later determining that the vehicle had been listed as stolen.
Subsequently, officers began pursuing the Nissan, which continued north at a high rate of speed on Martin Luther King Junior Way South.
Not long after, the pursuit came to a halt as the Pathfinder blew through a red light and collided with a Toyota Camry at South Holly Street.
According to officers, police officials tried saving a female passenger inside the Camry, who later died at the scene. As for the male driver of the Camry, paramedics rushed him to Harborview Medical Center; however, he died shortly thereafter.
Per statements, a female passenger in the stolen Nissan sustained substantial injuries and also received care at Harborview Medical Center.
In their investigation, officers determined that the 18-year-old Nissan driver — Alande Gachette — had been under the influence at the time. They subsequently booked him into King County Jail for two counts of vehicular homicide and possession of a stolen vehicle.
