Hugo Nunez Survives Fatal Two-Car Collision on Highway 223 Near 82 Freeway
GRANGER, WA (September 15, 2020) — A Saturday evening two-vehicle accident on Highway 223 near the 82 Freeway left one person dead.
According to a Washington State Patrol press release, a Chevrolet C6500 traveling northbound on Highway 223 drove over the center line around 9:00 p.m. for unknown reasons.
Subsequently, the C6500 collided with a southbound Chevrolet Silverado, killing the Silverado driver at the scene.
Hugo Nunez, the 38-year-old Yakima man operating the Chevrolet C6500, sustained unknown injuries. As a result, officials transported Nunez to Astria Sunnyside Hospital for further treatment.
At this time, the cause of the accident remains unclear. However, police ruled out drugs and alcohol as possible factors.
