Drunk Scooter Driver Involved in Crash with Vehicle on Byron Street at Rosecrans Street in San Diego
SAN DIEGO, CA (September 13, 2020) – A scooter driver suffered serious injuries in a DUI crash on Byron Street on late Sunday evening.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened at the intersection of Rosecrans Street at approximately 10:40 PM.
Based on a report, the 36-year-old man was drunk while riding an electric scooter. Due to an unknown reason, he ran a red light from westbound on Byron Street directly into the path of a southbound Volvo SUV driven by a 20-year-old woman.
As a result, the man sustained brain bleed and multiple facial fractures. Emergency crews brought him to a hospital for treatment. Medics said his condition is life-threatening.
The Volvo driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Officers said the scooter rider was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash.
Never drink before driving to avoid getting hurt or hurting other people. In addition, a DUI crash is dangerous and can cause injuries. However, stay sober, manage your speed, and avoid reckless driving to avoid getting into an accident.
