Driver Dies in Car Accident at West Kamm Avenue and South Marks Avenue [Caruthers, CA]
Fatal Caruthers Car Accident at West Kamm Avenue
CARUTHERS, CA (September 14, 2020) — One person died in Saturday’s two-car accident at West Kamm Avenue and South Marks Avenue.
According to spokesman Mike Salas, the incident occurred around 9:00 a.m.
Inferring from the evidence, investigators believe a 65-year-old man in a 1996 Toyota Corolla had failed to stop at the stop sign at South Marks Avenue for unknown reasons. As a result, the Corolla subsequently collided with a northbound 2015 Chevrolet pickup, hauling a loaded cattle trailer, whose driver had the right of way.
Unfortunately, the Chevrolet driver became unable to avoid the imminent accident and collided with the Toyota’s left side.
The impact caused significant left-side damage to the Corolla, causing severe injury to its driver.
Moments later, the 65-year-old driver succumbed to his injuries.
At the scene, paramedics treated the Chevrolet driver who suffered minor injuries in the accident.
However, at this time, the California Highway Patrol has yet to determine whether impairment played a role in the crash.
Our hearts and sincere sympathies go out to the bereaved family and friends of the victim.
