WEST SACRAMENTO, CA (September 11, 2020) — A head-on crash on Old River Road near County Road 124 tragically claimed two lives Wednesday evening.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the victims have been described as two West Sacramento residents.
Around 6:00 p.m., a 2016 Ford Fusion driver, traveling north at a high rate of speed, reportedly swerved for unknown reasons into the southbound lanes. There, along Old River Road, it struck a southbound 2017 Ford F-150 head-on.
In its wake, the crash left both drivers with fatal injuries.
While one driver died at the scene, the other perished at UC Davis Medical Center.
According to reports, a passenger in the Ford truck sustained moderate injuries and received hospital treatment at UC Davis Medical Center.
In the investigation, authorities determined that the Ford had been driving recklessly at high speeds and passing cars in an unsafe manner minutes before.
At this time, the crash remains open as authorities examine this accident more closely.
This is no news that any family member should learn. Our deepest condolences go out to the bereaved families and friends of the victims.
