12-Year-Old Girl Seriously Injured in Skateboard Accident at Polk Avenue and Estrella Avenue [San Diego, CA]
Girl, 12, Hospitalized in San Diego Skateboarding Accident on Polk Avenue
SAN DIEGO, CA (September 11, 2020) — A 12-year-old girl sustained severe injuries following Wednesday’s skateboard accident at Polk and Estrella avenues.
According to police, the child suffered severe injuries, including a brain bleed, after slamming into a minivan.
Per reports, the 42-year-old man driving the 2011 Toyota Sienna minivan had entered the intersection while traveling north on Estrella Avenue. Subsequently, the child, heading downhill on her skateboard along Polk Avenue East, crashed into the minivan’s left rear bumper.
Shortly after, paramedics arrived and shuttled her to Rady’s Children Hospital for treatment of a fractured skull and a brain bleed.
At this time, her condition has not been updated.
