OCEANSIDE, CA (September 11, 2020) — A 32-year-old pedestrian died Thursday after being struck by a big rig and a vehicle on the 5 Freeway near Mission Avenue.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal event took place around 2:35 a.m.
With the help of evidence at the scene, officers believe a 51-year-old Fontana man in a big rig struck the 32-year-old male pedestrian standing in one of the freeway lanes.
As a result of the impact, the pedestrian was thrown into another southbound lane, where a 31-year-old Carlsbad man in a Toyota struck him.
Although both drivers stopped at the scene and waited for authorities to arrive, the pedestrian died moments later.
