Six-Time Felon Darwin Caldwell Arrested after Fatal DUI Crash on 55th Avenue [Marysville, WA]
97-Year-Old Woman Killed, Cyclist Injured as Car Crashes into Home on 55th Avenue in Marysville
MARYSVILLE, WA (August 29, 2020) – Police arrested alleged six-time felon Darwin Caldwell after a fatal DUI crash in the 8400 block of 55th Avenue on early Saturday morning.
According to the Washington State Patrol, the accident happened at approximately 2:04 AM.
Based on a report, the 42-year-old man was driving his 1971 Chevrolet Impala at a high rate of speed when he struck a bicyclist. Subsequently, the Chevy continued on crashing into the bedroom of a residence, narrowly missing a large propane tank.
The Marysville Collision Investigation Unit said the suspect struck and killed a 97-year-old Marysville woman, who was in bed at the time of the accident. Her relatives did not allow the release of the victim’s identity.
Another occupant of the residence was not hurt in the incident. In addition, crews transported the 25-year-old bicyclist to Providence Medical Center in Everett with serious life-threatening injuries.
Police said Caldwell was under the influence at the time of the crash. They took him to Providence Medical Center, Colby Campus with non-life-threatening injuries before transferring him to the Snohomish County Jail on two felonies, vehicular homicide – reckless driving and vehicular assault.
