Fatal Motorcycle Crash in Lake Elsinore
LAKE ELSINORE, CA (September 1, 2020)—A 57-year-old Laguna Niguel man died following Sunday’s motorcycle collision on Highway 74 near Grand Avenue.
The deadly incident occurred around 8:47 a.m. just outside of the Lookout landmark.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the man from Laguna Niguel lost control of his motorcycle along a sweeping curve near 30751 Ortega Highway.
Subsequently, the bike veered over the double yellow lines and struck the front of an oncoming Nissan Frontier, whose driver tried avoiding the crash by steering to the right shoulder.
As a result of the crash, the motorcyclist suffered fatal injuries. By midday Monday, the coroner’s office still had not released his identity.
During the investigation, authorities determined that the rider was traveling at speeds of about 50 to 55 miles per hour on his 2005 Harley-Davidson Buell. As for the 36-year old Corona man operating the 2016 Nissan Frontier, he was traveling at speeds of about 35 miles per hour prior to the impact.
No other information was available, but anyone willing to help authorities in the investigation, please call the CHP.
Our deepest thoughts and sympathies are with the bereaved family and friends of the victim.
