2 Children Hurt in DUI Accident in Kent
KENT, WA (August 27, 2020) — Two children were hurt Tuesday after a driver struck their toy Jeep in a DUI crash on 281st Street near 199th Avenue.
According to reports, the accident happened around 6:00 p.m.
Authorities believe the suspect was traveling on Southeast 281st Street when he allegedly struck a battery-powered Barbie Jeep with a 3-year-old girl and 5-year-old boy in it.
Reports say the driver allegedly dragged the toy car for a half a mile before stopping. Fortunately, the children had already been out of the toy Jeep by that time.
Due to the crash, the girl sustained serious injuries and is recovering in the ICU as the boy sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
As for the 26-year-old man, police officers are holding him on a $100,000 bail. He faces charges of vehicular assault, felony hit-and-run and reckless driving.
