George Shufelt Killed in Fatal Rockport Accident
ROCKPORT, WA (August 23, 2020) – Police identified George Shufelt as the victim who died in a motorcycle crash on Highway 20 on Sunday morning.
According to the Washington State Patrol, the incident happened near Diablo Lake at about 11:20 AM.
Based on a report, Shufelt was heading east on the highway when he veered across the centerline. Consequently, he crashed into a car approaching from the opposite direction.
As a result, he then tumbled down an embankment with his motorcycle. Troopers and medics responded to the scene and pronounced him dead at the scene. He was a 33-year-old resident of Bellingham. The car’s two occupants, a couple from Mount Vernon, did not sustain any injury in the crash.
The couple remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. Police believe that alcohol and drugs were not a factor in the crash. However, they continue to investigate the case.
