Deadly DUI Head-On Crash on East Mission Road Near Live Oak Park Road [Fallbrook, CA]
Man Dies, Woman Injured in DUI Two-Car Collision in Fallbrook
FALLBROOK, CA (August 25, 2020) — Police reported a fatal DUI head-on crash on East Mission Road near Live Oak Park Road Monday.
The violent head-on accident happened around 1:20 p.m. near Megan’s Bluff neighborhood.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a man operating a Toyota Tacoma truck eastbound began approaching a westbound traveling Ford Mustang.
Deputies believe through investigation that the Mustang and Tacoma collided head-on after the Mustang drifted into the opposite lane. In addition, detectives believe that the crash happened around a bend in the road.
Responding with haste, firefighters used the Jaws of Life to cut the 47-year-old Fallbrook woman from the Ford Mustang. The same equipment was used to free the 55-year-old man from his crumpled Tacoma pickup.
Soon after, paramedics airlifted the man to Palomar Medical Center where he died, despite life-saving efforts.
As for the woman, she remains hospitalized with major injuries. However, police determined that DUI had played a role on her part.
