18-Year-Old Jonathan Felix Killed, 21-Year-Old Enrique Garcia Arrested in DUI Crash on 87th Avenue [Phoenix, AZ]
DUI Driver Involved in Fatal Crash on 87th Avenue near Lower Buckeye Road in Phoenix
PHOENIX, AZ (August 22, 2020) – Police identified 18-year-old Jonathan Felix as the victim who died in a DUI crash on 87th Avenue on Saturday night.
According to Phoenix Police, the incident happened near Lower Buckeye Road at approximately 11:35 PM.
Based on a report, Felix was driving a 2008 Chevrolet Equinox northbound on 87th Avenue prior to the crash. At the same time, 21-year-old Enrique Garcia was eastbound in a 2002 Ford Ranger pickup truck. Due to an unknown reason, Garcia drove through the red light and struck the Equinox.
As a result, Felix died at the scene.
Phoenix Police Department officers took Garcia, who was not injured in the crash, to the Maricopa County Jail for second-degree murder. Officials said the suspect showed signs and symptoms consistent with impairment. However, they did not yet release additional details related to the case.
