Liupua Talivaa Killed in Head-On Crash on Crow Canyon Road [San Ramon, CA]
Suspected DUI Driver Involved in Fatal Car Accident
SAN RAMON, CA (August 22, 2020) – Police identified Liupua Talivaa as the victim who got killed in a head-on crash on Crow Canyon Road on Saturday afternoon.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened near Bollinger Canyon Road at approximately 3:15 PM.
Based on a report, Talivaa was traveling at an unknown speed northbound when he allowed his vehicle to cross the double-yellow lines. Consequently, he crashed head-on into an oncoming vehicle.
As a result, Talivaa, who was not wearing a seatbelt, sustained fatal injuries in the crash. The Alameda County Coroner’s Bureau identified him as a 36-year-old Concord man. In addition, the driver of the other vehicle, a 26-year-old man from Walnut Creek, sustained major injuries. Crews transported him to a hospital for treatment.
Witnesses said Talivaa was seen driving recklessly prior to the crash. Investigators believe drugs or alcohol were a factor in the incident. However, officers don’t have additional information to share this time.
