Driver Dies in Oakland Collision With Semi-Truck on Frontage Road

 
OAKLAND, CA (August 24, 2020) — A man died Saturday morning following a car accident with a parked semi-trailer on Frontage Road near 10th Street.
 
According to authorities, the fatal accident happened around 12:40 a.m. in the 1300 block of Frontage Road.
 
Oakland police Traffic Officer Tim DeLaVega said a man driving a car for unknown reasons veered off course while traveling north on Frontage Road. It then struck the rear of a parked semi-trailer in the center median.
 
Per DeLaVega, detectives plan to explore the possibility of whether the driver had fallen asleep at the time of the accident.
 
Unfortunately, the nameless driver died in the collision and a woman and a 7-month-old infant riding in the car sustained injuries.
 
As for the truck driver, he escaped harm and had been sleeping at the time of the crash.
