Ventura County Sheriff’s Sergeant Injured in Crash Involving a Police Chase Suspect on Los Angeles Avenue and County Drive in Ventura
VENTURA, CA (August 18, 2020) – Police arrested Frank Avalos after a crash involving a Ventura County Sheriff’s sergeant’s vehicle on Los Angeles Avenue on early Tuesday morning.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened near County Drive around 2:13 AM.
Based on a report, the suspect was driving in the area when he rammed the patrol car multiple times and took off. Consequently, the patrol car flipped on its side, trapping the sergeant inside.
As a result, firefighters extricated the sergeant and send him to a hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries.
Police later arrested Avalos after he crashed his vehicle after a short chase. They charged him with assault with a deadly weapon on a police officer.
