Nursing Mother and One-Year-Old Baby Injured in Crash on 25 Freeway in Las Cruces
LAS CRUCES, NM (August 8, 2020) – Medics sent Edward Tapia, Jailene Moreno, and a baby to the hospital after a rollover crash on 25 Freeway on Saturday morning.
According to the New Mexico State Police, the collision happened at approximately 8:11 AM.
Based on a report, a vehicle crashed in the lanes. The gray 2012 Honda Odyssey was heading south when it left the freeway and rolled over. The car had a baby and five others inside it.
U.S. Border Patrol agents responded to the scene and requested emergency medical services. Crews treated Tapia at the scene for minor injuries. In addition, they sent Moreno to Mountain View Regional Medical Center with unknown injuries. A medical helicopter transported Moreno’s 1-month-old baby girl to the University Medical Center of El Paso with unknown injuries.
The police are still investigating the incident. At this point, they don’t have additional information to share.
