Two Semi-Trucks Crash on 5 Freeway near Elysian Park in Los Angeles
LOS ANGELES, CA (August 4, 2020) – Paramedics sent at least two people to the hospital after two semi-trucks got involved in a crash on 5 Freeway on Tuesday afternoon.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened near the Elysian Park and the connector for the 110 Freeway at approximately 1:00 PM.
Based on a report, the cab of one of the big rigs came off. Consequently, one occupant was trapped in the wreckage.
Responders from the Los Angeles Fire Department worked to quickly free the trapped motorist. In the end, they sent two people to an area hospital where they appeared to be in stable condition.
Officials closed the southbound lanes of the freeway, backing up traffic for several miles into the San Fernando Valley during rush hour.
Police are trying to determine what happened in the moments leading up to the crash. However, they don’t have additional information at this time.
