Fatal Truck Accident With Big Rig in San Diego
SAN DIEGO, CA (August 6, 2020) — A 43-year-old man perished in Wednesday’s collision with a semi-truck on Highway 163 near Genesee Avenue.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened around 3:40 p.m.
An Oceanside man operating a Toyota Tacoma pickup truck, traveling northbound on the highway at an unknown rate of speed, had failed to slow down for the slower-moving semi-truck.
Subsequently, the vehicle struck the semi, killing the Oceanside man at the scene.
Per reports, the 50-year-old big rig driver from Tijuana, Mexico escaped harm and stayed on site for investigation.
At this time, authorities have not determined if alcohol or drugs played a part in the accident; however, efforts remain in place to determine the ultimate cause that drove this fatal crash.
Due to the accident, northbound highway commuters faced heavy traffic as crews investigated.
