Luis Amezcua Arrested After Fatal DUI Crash on V Street [Merced, CA]

One Killed, Two Injured in DUI Accident on V Street and 9th Street in Merced

 
MERCED, CA (August 1, 2020) – Police arrested Luis Amezcua after a fatal DUI Crash on V Street on Saturday evening.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened near 9th Street at approximately 7:30 PM.
 
Based on a report, 22-year-old Luis Amezcua was driving under the influence when he ran through a stop sign. Consequently, his vehicle hit two cars. The impact pushed one of them into a power pole.
 
Emergency crews confirmed that one passenger in Amezcua’s vehicle died at the scene. They did not release the victim’s name pending kin notification. In addition, another one suffered major injuries.
 
Police took Amezcua into custody for DUI, hit and run, and vehicular manslaughter. At this point, an investigation into the case continues.
