Steve Gonzalez Killed, Gabriella Itovarga Hospitalized in Lancaster Accident
LANCASTER, CA (August 4, 2020)—A 25-year-old man died Saturday afternoon following a wrong-way collision on West Avenue D near 45th Street West.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a 2017 Honda Civic driven by Steve H. Gonzalez was traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes.
Approaching 45th Street West, 68-year-old Alson R. Hall spotted Gonzalez heading straight toward him, urging him to react fast by swerving to the right to avoid an imminent collision; however, the left front part of the Civic slammed into Hall’s trailer, killing Gonzalez and causing minor injuries to 19-year-old Gabriella Itovargas, his passenger who received treatment at Antelope Valley Hospital shortly after.
Information surrounding if Hall, 68, sustained any injuries was unavailable at the time. However, whether impairment played a part in the accident demands more investigation.
