Motorcycle Rider Dies in Crash on Highway 101 at Dutcher Creek Road in Cloverdale
CLOVERDALE, CA (August 1, 2020) – Police identified Scott Stanton as the motorist involved in a deadly crash on Highway 101 on Saturday afternoon.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened north of Dutcher Creek Road around 1:18 PM.
Based on a report, Scott Stanton, 51, of Willits, was driving his Volvo southbound in the right lane prior to the crash. Due to an unknown reason, the car drifted onto the right shoulder and collided with a guardrail. Consequently, the vehicle veered to the left across both lanes of traffic, directly in front of a Kawasaki motorcycle that was also traveling southbound.
As a result, the motorcyclists suffered severe injuries. Crews pronounced the victim dead at the scene of the accident. CHP did not release the victim’s identity pending kin notification.
At this time, police continue to investigate. However, they don’t have any information regarding the cause of the crash.
