Freeway Service Patrol Worker Struck, Killed by Lumber Truck in Woodside Crash on 280 Freeway
WOODSIDE, CA (July 27, 2020) – A Freeway Service Patrol driver died in Tuesday’s pedestrian accident on the 280 South Freeway near Farm Hill Boulevard.
According to reports, California Highway Patrol officers responded to a call about a crash around 3:40 p.m.
Shortly after, the CHP Redwood City office confirmed that one of their Freeway Service Patrol workers had been assigned to help a driver on the southbound side of the freeway. During this event, however, an oncoming lumber truck struck the worker and his car, causing him fatal injuries.
Following the accident, the unidentified driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with police investigations. Authorities do not believe DUI played a role in the accident.
Due to the crash, commuters faced a right-lane closure, as CHP officers investigated the area.
