Deadly Claremont Car Accident at Monte Vista Avenue

 
CLAREMONT, CA (July 24, 2020) — Police reported a fatal car accident at Monte Vista Avenue and Base Line Road on Wednesday night.
 
According to Sgt. Robert Ewing of the Claremont Police Department, the incident happened around 9:30 p.m. and summoned Claremont police officers to the scene.
 
Investigators believe that a 20-year-old man from Montclair was traveling northbound on Monte Vista Avenue. His vehicle subsequently ran the red traffic light and struck an eastbound vehicle at Base Line Road. The impact sent the second car spinning into a third vehicle.
 
The first car continued north but crashed through a fence on the northeast corner of the intersection before coming to a stop on an embankment.
 
Per reports, the Montclair man had to be rescued by Los Angeles County Fire after being trapped in his vehicle.
 
From there, paramedics quickly transported him to Pomona Valley Medical Center with life-threatening injuries; however, the man succumbed to his injuries at 3:04 a.m.
