Two-Vehicles Involved in Head-On Crash on Highway 82 in Yakima
YAKIMA, WA (July 18, 2020) – Police identified 75-year-old Steven Hill as the victim who suffered injuries in a head-on crash on Highway 82 on Saturday evening.
According to the Washington State Patrol, the collision happened near North First Street and U.S. Highway 12 around 6:20 PM.
Based on a report, Hill had been driving his 2006 Nissan Frontier on the wrong way before the accident. Consequently, he collided head-on with a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Patrick Quillen, 58, of Port Orchard.
Quillen was not hurt in the incident. However, emergency crews rushed Hill to Virginia Mason Memorial Hospital for treatment of injuries.
At this time, CHP officers don’t know why Hill was driving on the wrong way at the time of the crash. However, they continue to investigate the incident.
Distracted driving and driving on the wrong way often lead to a head-on crash. As a result, do not commit these mistakes to avoid getting into an accident. However, manage your speed and slow down on areas near intersections to avoid getting into an accident.
