Rick Alarcon Detained Following Double Bicycle Crash Near 26th and P Streets
SACRAMENTO, CA (July 20, 2020) — Officers arrested a DUI driver who deliberately struck and injured two bicyclists near 26th and P streets Thursday.
According to Sacramento police officers, police arrested 59-year-old Rick Charles Alarcon who had struck and seriously injured two bicyclists.
The two bicycle accidents occurred at two Midtown intersections.
The first incident occurred around 6:20 p.m. and shortly after, police responded to another crash that took place three blocks away.
Officers subsequently arrested Alarcon, of Hickman in Stanislaus County, after confirming that he had been involved in both accidents.
Police booked him into Sacramento County Main Jail without bail, as he faces two counts of attempted murder and one count of driving under the influence.
Driving while under the influence can make you more susceptible to causing harm to others on the road. If you are impaired due to alcohol or drugs, do not get behind the wheel. It is best to contact a trusted friend or a Rideshare service to bring you home. Because drugs and alcohol can alter your state of mind and compromise your judgment, car accidents become more likely to happen.
