Miguel Gonzalez Killed in High-Speed Collision on South Shamrock Avenue Near Hurstview Avenue
DUARTE, CA (July 20, 2020) — A 29-year-old man died in a car accident Saturday on South Shamrock Avenue near Hurstview Avenue.
According to authorities, an ice cream truck was involved in the collision that occurred around 6:12 p.m.
Authorities arrived in the 1900 block of South Shamrock Avenue and found a car wedged underneath the ice cream truck. Firefighters had to extricate one occupant from one of the cars while paramedics declared a person deceased at the scene.
Reports revealed Miguel Colon Gonzalez of Duarte as the fatal victim in the accident.
According to California Highway Patrol officers, Gonzalez’s Honda Civic collided with the 1988 Chevy ice cream truck after traveling fast on Hurstview Avenue.
That 61-year-old Montebello man driving the Chevy truck suffered unknown injuries.
Investigators added that the ice cream truck was traveling northbound at 10 miles per hour when the accident occurred.
At this time authorities have not confirmed the ultimate cause of the accident; however, if witnesses have information, please contact local authorities.
