Jonathan Branaugh and Joshua Fernandes Injured in Accident on O’Byrnes Ferry Road [Jamestown, CA]
Jonathan Branaugh and Joshua Fernandes Hospitalized in Head-On Collision on O’Byrnes Ferry Road Near Shotgun Creek Drive
JAMESTOWN, CA (July 17, 2020) — A two-vehicle crash on O’Byrnes Ferry Road near Shotgun Creek Drive Thursday morning left two people hospitalized.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident occurred around 5:45 a.m. and caused major delays for morning commuters.
Per an investigation, 35-year-old Jonathan Branaugh from Tracy was heading northbound in his 2001 Chevrolet Blazer at speeds of about 55 mph; however, as he accelerated to speeds of 65 mph to pass up a big rig by using the opposing lane, he had failed to see a Ford F-550 pickup traveling in the opposite direction.
Subsequently, both vehicles collided, causing the Chevrolet to overturn.
Shortly thereafter, paramedics airlifted Branaugh to Memorial Medical Center in Modesto with major injuries. Thirty-three-year-old Joshua Fernandes of Angels Camp — the driver of the Ford — was brought to Adventist Health, Sonora.
According to CHP, neither alcohol nor drugs played a role in the accident. However, the crash remains under investigation.
