16-Year-Old Girl Killed in Red-Light Accident on 44th Street [Phoenix, AZ]
One Killed, Two Injured in Phoenix Car Accident
PHOENIX, AZ (July 10, 2020) – Police confirmed that a 16-year-old girl died in a red-light accident on 44th Street on Friday night.
According to the Phoenix Police Department, the collision happened near Greenway Road at approximately 8:15 PM.
Based on a report, a 17-year-old boy who was driving a car did not stop at the red light while running north on the road. As a result, the car collided with another vehicle traveling westward.
Emergency crews took the boy and his passenger, the 16-year-old girl, to the hospital for treatment. The girl died due to serious injuries. Crews did not release her name pending notification of next of kin. In addition, crews also sent the driver of the westward-bound car, a 43-year-old man, to the hospital with minor injuries.
Police do not believe impairment was a factor in this crash. However, they continue to investigate the incident.
