Woman Killed in Broadside Crash on Pond Road [McFarland, CA]

Fatal Accident on Pond Road and Melcher Road in McFarland

 
MCFARLAND, CA (July 11, 2020) – Police confirmed that a woman died in a broadside crash on Pond Road on Saturday evening.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened at Melcher Road at approximately 11:00 PM.
 
Based on a report, a 23-year-old woman failed to stop at the stop sign while traveling northbound on Melcher. As a result, she then broadsided another vehicle traveling westbound on Pond. In addition, the impact caused the second vehicle to hit a power pole.
 
Emergency crews found the female driver of the second vehicle pinned inside. They pronounced her dead at the scene. They did not release her name pending kin notification. In addition, they sent the driver of the first car to a local hospital with major injuries.
 
CHP officials said drugs and alcohol were not contributing factors in the crash. However, they continue to investigate the case.
