Wrong-Way Driver, Dog Killed in Crash on 15 Freeway at 4th Street [Ontario, CA]
Wrong-Way Driver Perishes in Ontario Accident
ONTARIO, CA (July 2, 2020)—A wrong-way driver and his dog died Wednesday morning following a series of collisions on the 15 Freeway at 4th Street.
Around 4:25 a.m. the wrong-way driver, described as a 35-year-old male, was heading northbound in the southbound lane in a GMC pickup truck.
Traveling in the No. 4 lane, the GMC driver encountered a southbound semi-truck before it sideswiped the vehicle.
However, per reports, the driver of the big rig even tried avoiding the vehicle upon encountering it.
Subsequently, the GMC driver turned his truck around and fled the scene, traveling southbound this time. However, just south of Jurupa Street, the GMC driver slammed into the center median concrete wall. From there, he exited his pickup, while carrying his dog, and proceeded to hop over the center median onto the northbound side.
Unfortunately, an oncoming northbound vehicle struck and killed the man and his canine as they tried bolting across the northbound lanes.
No other parties were injured in the accident.
As for the cause and liabilities of the crash, authorities have yet to confirm these details with a follow-up investigation.
Our condolences and thoughts of strength and hope are with the family and friends of the victim.
