Robert Crain Arrested in Hit-and-Run on Hook Creek Road [Lake Arrowhead, CA]
Robert Crain Strikes Car, Pedestrians on Hook Creek Road Near Poplar Lane
LAKE ARROWHEAD, CA (July 2, 2020) — A father and son sustained injuries Sunday when a hit-and-run driver struck them on Hook Creek Road near Poplar Lane.
According to reports, the accident happened in the 30000 block of Hook Creek Road at approximately 1:00 p.m.
A dashcam video documented the crash, showing a driver in a white SUV slamming into a red pickup truck multiple times. Per the footage, as the truck begins to leave, the SUV subsequently strikes two men standing in the roadway.
The pedestrians, described as a father and son, had reportedly been involved in some sort of altercation with the driver of the SUV. At some point during the accident, one of the victims had been dragged by the vehicle. From there, the SUV fled the area, leaving the pair with injuries.
Paramedics arrived shortly after and transported both patients to a local hospital.
The driver of the red pickup truck, who had no connection to the argument, had been at the wrong place, at the wrong time. It’s unclear whether he or she suffered any injury.
Although the suspect left the scene of the accident, officers located his whereabouts not long after. Robert Crain, of Hemet, was charged with attempted murder and child endangerment after having his two children and wife in the vehicle at the time of the incident.
Reports noted that the 37-year-old remains in jail at the West Valley Detention Center with a $1 million bail.
