Kenia Rodriguez Arrested, Heather Martinez Dies in Hit-and-Run near Minkler
SANGER, CA (June 28, 2020) – Police identified Heather Martinez as the victim who died in a DUI crash on Highway 180 on early Sunday morning.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened just east of Piedra Road around 2:30 AM.
Reports from the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office showed that Kenia Rodriguez was drunk when she drove a 2000 Toyota. As a result, she struck Martinez, 42, of Fresno, who just exited another vehicle on the highway at the time of the crash. In addition, Rodriguez fled the scene after the incident.
Crews pronounced the victim dead at the scene.
A Fresno County Sheriff’s deputy who was near the area later arrested Rodriguez on suspicion of felony DUI and hit-and-run.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing. However, police don’t have other details at this time.
