Pedestrian Hit, Killed by Driver on Highway 101 Near Arata Lane [Windsor, CA]
Man Dies in Windsor Pedestrian Accident
WINDSOR, CA (June 30, 2020) — A man died Saturday following a pedestrian crash on Highway 101 near Arata Lane.
According to County Fire dispatchers, multiple witnesses reported a body in the right lane of Highway 101 around 10:40 p.m.
Shortly after, Sonoma County Fire Crews arrived at the scene and pronounced the man dead upon arrival. Officials closed the surrounding area due to investigations and clean up.
According to detectives, the deceased victim had been the driver of a BMW that was stopped on the right shoulder of the highway with its engine running. For unknown reasons, the man exited his vehicle and was struck in the left lane of the highway by an oncoming Subaru Outback.
The driver of the Subaru pulled over and waited for authorities to arrive.
According to a preliminary investigation, alcohol and drugs did not play a factor in the accident; however, if anyone has additional insight into this crash, please call CHP at 707-588-1400.
