Randall King Dies in Multi-Car Accident on 5 Freeway Near El Toro Road
LAGUNA HILLS, CA (June 30, 2020) — On June 30, a chain-reaction crash on the 5 Freeway near El Toro Road killed a 71-year-old man.
According to the Orange County coroner’s office, Randall King, of Ojai, died in the 12:40 p.m. collision that happened on the 5 Freeway.
Investigators determined that a BMW stopped on the 5 Freeway without warning. Unfortunately, King did not stop in time to avoid a crash. As a result, his Subaru struck by an oncoming Ford, resulting in a chain-reaction collision.
Paramedics arrived shortly after to find King with severe injuries and transported him to Mission Hospital Regional Medical Center in Mission Viejo, where he died 40 minutes later.
Reports did not specify whether the other parties suffered injuries. In addition, details pertaining to why the BMW made an abrupt stop fell short.
The California Highway Patrol Orange County Office plans to investigate this accident. Officials plan to determine the liabilities and other factors that could have precipitated the event.
